Located in the City of Santa Clarita near the offramp of the 14 Freeway and San Fernando Road, the beautiful 442-acre Whitney Canyon Park in the Rim of the Valley Trail Corridor provides outstanding examples of coastal sage scrub, oak woodland, chaparral and riparian corridor vegetation, with year-round springs and at least ten sensitive species. Besides its importance for wildlife movement in a critical corridor between the Santa Susana Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains, Whitney Canyon provides a regionally significant entrance into the Angeles National Forest.

Several popular trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians are accessible from Whitney Canyon.

Parking: A dirt parking lot is available at the park entrance.

Easy 3 mile, 200 foot gain stroll in Whitney Cyn Park on the Rim of the Valley Corridor along the north slope of the San Gabriel Mts. This quiet park provides an excellent example of oak woodlands, chaparral and riparian vegetation. Meet 9 AM at the south end of Newhall Ave in Santa Clarita. Take I-5 to 14 Fwy, 1st exit Newhall Ave, R to Park and Ride area. Bring water and snack. Rain cancels. All minors need to be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. Leaders:
