Switzer Canyon hike to waterfall
Switzer Canyon hike to waterfall
Sunday, April 29, 2012
10:30am - All Ages
Other Info
We will hike in the San Gabriel Mountains which begins in the upper reaches of the Arroyo Seco and follows a stream under the shade of alder, oak, maple, and spruce trees. The trail eventually descends into a gorge and we will find ourselves at the base of a waterfall.

This is a pleasing to the eye hike of about 5 miles round trip and 600ft elevation gain, best for kids older than 10, or backpacked kids. There are a quite a number of stream crossings along the way. The trail will take us hiking on the top of a gorge so best if not afraid of heights. We will meet at Switzer at 10:30 am. Bring water, sunscreen, lunch and a snack to share. Due to the stream crossings, hiking boots are strongly recommended or shoes that one does not mind getting wet.
All minors need to be accompanied by parents or legal guardians. Leaders Silvia Darie and Jeff Wilson

Directions: From the 210 Fwy, exit at Angeles Crest Hwy and drive north about 10 miles to Switzer and park down or alongside the road. You will need an Adventure Pass to park at the trailhead. The pass can be purchased from the gas station right before the carpool point, Sports Chalet, among other locations.
