Other Info | Sat May 12, 2012 O: Spectacular Fish Canyon and Waterfalls Come join on this gorgeous. 5 mile roundtrip, 900’ elevation gain hike to what John Robinson calls “The most spectacular falls in the San Gabriel range”. Follow the lush green, tree-lined canyon walls situated alongside a running stream to a free-flowing waterfall. After decent rains, these falls really look majestic. And yes, there really are fish swimming in the canyon waters. Meet us at 9:30 am at the Vulcan parking lot at end of Encanto Pkw in Duarte. (From the I-210 Foothill Freeway, traveling east (or the I-605 traveling north): Exit Mt. Olive Avenue in Duarte. Turn right (east) on Huntington Drive and go 0.6 mile to Encanto Parkway. Turn left (north) on Encanto Parkway and drive to end). Bring hiking style boots, lunch or a snack, and some water. Hike best for youngsters older than 9 or those used to hiking on a narrow trail. All minors need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. There are couple of stream crossings. Possibility of playing near the river, so bring water shoes/ changes of clothes especially for the kids.
