Other Info | Red Rock Canyon Wildflower Hike Moderately paced 3 mi, 500' gain. Discover the beauty of the Santa Monica Mtns with photographer and local wildflower expert James Kenney. Red Rock Cyn is a unique riparian canyon with fascinating sculptured rock formations in colors ranging from chalk white to deep red. In the spring, the park's special rockland micro-habitats are alive with incredible wildflowers and fascinating plant communities. And it has cool rock caves. Meet 8:30 am at Pacific Palisades rideshare pt, or 9 am at the fee parking area just beyond the park entrance (1½ mi from intersection of Old Topanga Cyn Rd and Red Rock Rd; drive slowly and be careful on Red Rock Rd as it becomes an unimproved dirt road as it passes through the residential area on the way to the parking area). Brin water, lugsoles, hat, sunscreen. Rain cancels. Ldr: David Haake. Asst Ldrs: Frances Sotcher, Kathleen Murphy Hike is sponsored by the West LA Group of the Sierra Club.
