Other Info | June 2, 2012 Crescenta Valley Group, Little Hikers o: Hike, tree care and campfire in Deukmejian Park Come celebrate National Trails Day with us in Deukmejian Park with a short hike to water newly planted trees and enjoy the stream of Cooks Canyon. Meet us at 5 pm at Deukmejian Park at 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA. The short hike of about 2- 3 miles, 500 ft gain will start at 5pm and meander from new tree to new tree until we get to a lovely stream. See, we planted conifers here a year ago, and periodically we come visit and water them, and show them we care. So bring an empty 1/2 gallon to gallon bottle or two with you - we will use this to water some new trees, refill at the stream, and bring back the juice of life to the other newly planted trees. Kids with their parents are more than welcome. They will definitely like the water and the stream. Wildflowers are quite abundant after the wildfires, so more beauty to check out. When we come back around 7 pm we will join the campfire and smores activities planned by the City of Glendale for National Trails Day. This event is open to the public and there is no admission cost. So bring your friends. And bring hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, water and a snack. All minors need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.Hike leaders: Silvia Darie and Jeff Wilson Note: the City of Glendale will also have a nighthike after the campfire. That is separate from the hike mentioned above. See the attachment for the activities planned by the City of Glendale. Please send us an email at outdoorsygal@sbcglobal.net so we know to look for you. Hope to see you there |
